Warranty Conditions
Our products are designed and manufactured to meet high standards of quality, durability, functionality, and design. To ensure reliable performance and years of riding enjoyment, please follow all care, maintenance, and operating instructions provided with your product and in the user manual.
Products are supplied in preassembled form through specialised bicycle retailers. Final assembly and preparation for safe riding—including customer-specific adjustments to the suspension, gears, and brakes—must be completed by an authorised specialist retailer.
For the purposes of these warranty conditions, “buyer” refers to the original end customer.
1. Manufacturer Warranty
The buyer may be entitled to warranty services subject to the conditions outlined below.
2. Products Covered by the Warranty
This warranty applies only to:
- BMC-manufactured frames
- Rigid forks
- BMC-manufactured components
The warranty applies exclusively to new BMC products purchased from an authorised BMC retailer.
All other parts, components, and products are excluded unless specifically covered by separate warranty terms.
3. Warranty Period
The standard warranty periods are:
| Product | Warranty Period |
|---|---|
| BMC Frame | 3 years |
| Paintwork | 2 years |
| BMC Components | 2 years |
| Paintwork on models manufactured before 2014 | 1 year |
BMC provides a voluntary three-year warranty on frames and a two-year warranty on BMC components and paintwork.
Extended Frame Warranty
The original purchaser may register their frame within 6 months of purchase through the applicable BMC registration service. Successful registration may extend the frame warranty from 3 years to 5 years.
The warranty period does not restart or extend following a frame repair or replacement.
4. Warranty Exclusions
The warranty does not cover damage, defects, or failures resulting from:
- Technical modifications made without manufacturer approval
- Alterations or additions involving incompatible or non-original parts
- Normal wear and tear of wearing components, including bearings, bearing bolts, and bearing screws
- Non-BMC parts or components
- Consequential or indirect damage
- Repairs or modifications performed outside the authorised retailer network
- Improper use, handling, storage, or transportation
- Failure to complete required warranty inspections within the specified period
- Improper or insufficient maintenance
- Failure to follow the operating and care instructions
- Damage caused by incorrect adjustment or worn components
- Damage resulting from crashes, falls, or accidents
- Damage caused by weather or environmental exposure
- Damage caused by unsuitable cleaning products, additives, tools, or high-pressure cleaners
- Commercial rental, lending, or hire use
5. Scope of Warranty Service
During the applicable warranty period, BMC may, at its discretion:
- Repair the defective product or component
- Replace the defective product or component with an equivalent part
- Provide a replacement that may differ in model, specification, or colour from the original part
Services or repairs that are not covered by the warranty may be charged according to the retailer's applicable labour rates, material costs, and transportation expenses.
Additional charges may also apply for cleaning bicycles that are returned or presented in an excessively dirty condition.
A repair or replacement performed under warranty does not restart or extend the original warranty period.
No warranty services beyond those specifically described in these conditions are provided.
6. Submitting a Warranty Claim
Warranty claims must be submitted through an authorised BMC retailer.
The claim should include the applicable warranty documentation, such as:
- A completed warranty claim form
- Proof of purchase or applicable warranty documentation
- The bicycle or frame number
- Photographs showing the defect or damaged component
The retailer will submit the claim to BMC for assessment and further instructions.
Where required, defective components may need to be removed, cleaned, and sent to BMC for inspection.
Once a warranty repair or replacement has been approved, the repaired or replacement product will be provided to the authorised retailer. Final assembly and basic adjustment must be carried out by the retailer.
Warranty claims may be rejected if the required assembly, installation, or adjustment procedures are not performed by an authorised retailer.
7. Crash Replacement
Selected models may qualify for a one-time crash replacement service following the required warranty registration.
Under this service, eligible customers may have their damaged BMC frame replaced at a discount from the applicable official list price.
Eligibility, applicable discounts, covered models, and other conditions vary. Please refer to the current Crash Replacement information for complete details.
8. Severability
If any provision of these warranty conditions is found to be invalid, unenforceable, or incomplete, the validity of the remaining provisions will not be affected.
The invalid or missing provision will be replaced or interpreted with a legally valid provision that most closely reflects the original intention.
9. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These warranty conditions and any disputes arising from or relating to them are governed by Swiss law, excluding conflict-of-law provisions and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
The courts of the Solothurn district, Switzerland, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or connected with these warranty conditions, including disputes concerning the validity of the agreement.
