Specs & Compatibility

Where is the BMC serial number?

The serial number is normally located near or below the bottom bracket. On newer models, it may also appear below the QR code. On AMP eBikes, the serial number may be located underneath the battery.

Can I upgrade the rear shock?

BMC full-suspension bikes are designed as complete systems, with each suspension component carefully tuned for the frame. Replacing the shock is generally not recommended. For custom tuning, consult a qualified suspension specialist.

Can I install a suspension fork with more travel?

Changing suspension travel can alter the bike's geometry, steering, handling, and overall performance. BMC bikes are designed around their specified suspension setup, so any modification should be discussed with a qualified professional.

Which carrier fits my Alpenchallenge?

The Alpenchallenge can support selected rear carriers. For the best compatibility and installation, consult your BMC retailer.

For older Alpenchallenge models, compatible carrier options may require a BMC fender mount or additional mounting hardware.

Which carrier fits my Alpenchallenge AMP?

A compatible rear carrier can be installed on the Alpenchallenge AMP. Installation may require a longer mounting stay and the appropriate BMC fender mount.

Maximum tire width with carrier and mudguards is 32 mm.

Which kickstand fits my Alpenchallenge AMP?

Compatible kickstands include selected Pletscher and Ursus models with 40 mm mounting spacing. Some Alpenchallenge AMP versions require a specific adapter depending on whether the frame is aluminum or carbon.

 

Bike Setup

How do I set my saddle position?

A properly adjusted saddle improves comfort, pedaling efficiency, and riding position.

Saddle Height:
Your leg should be almost fully extended when your heel reaches the pedal at its lowest position. As an alternative, saddle height can be estimated using your inseam measurement.

Saddle Position:
Adjust the saddle forward or backward so your knee is positioned approximately above the pedal spindle when the crank is horizontal.

Saddle Tilt:
Start with the saddle level. Make small adjustments if you experience pressure on your pelvis or hands.

For precise bike fitting, professional adjustment is recommended.

How do I set rear suspension SAG?

BMC full-suspension mountain bikes include an Initial Load Indicator to help set the correct SAG.

Remember to include your normal riding equipment, such as a hydration or gear pack, when setting suspension pressure. Check your suspension setup regularly.

Carbon Care

How should I care for my carbon frame?

BMC carbon frames are engineered for high performance, stiffness, comfort, and durability. However, carbon can be sensitive to sharp objects, concentrated pressure, and improper handling.

  • Avoid sharp or hard objects contacting the frame.
  • Do not clamp the frame tubes in a work stand.
  • Secure the bike by the seatpost when using a work stand.
  • Avoid excessive side loads during maintenance.
  • Have major repairs performed by qualified professionals.
Can I use my BMC bike on a home trainer?

BMC carbon frames should be used with direct-drive trainers that require removal of the rear wheel and use the original axle.

Frame-clamping trainers are not recommended and may damage the frame or affect warranty coverage.

Can I use a child seat or trailer?

Do not clamp child seats or trailer couplings directly onto a carbon frame.

Can I travel with my BMC bike?

When transporting your bike, protect the frame with suitable padding and use an appropriate bike box or travel case.

When using a vehicle rack, secure the bike at approved mounting points such as the seatpost or fork dropout. Never clamp directly onto the frame tubes.

 

Why can I see the carbon pattern through the clear coat?

BMC uses unidirectional carbon fiber arranged in multiple layers and orientations to achieve the desired balance of strength, stiffness, and compliance.

On unpainted frames, the carbon layup may remain visible through the clear coat. This is a natural result of the construction and highlights the frame's carbon structure.

Warranty & Repairs

What is the BMC warranty?

BMC provides a voluntary warranty covering frames, components, and paintwork according to its warranty terms. Registering a new bike within the required period may extend the frame warranty.

Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?

The warranty may continue with a used BMC bike, provided the original purchase documentation is available and the warranty conditions are met.

Does the warranty cover racing?

Racing is covered where applicable. Damage caused by crashes, external forces, misuse, or improper use is generally excluded.

How do I make a warranty claim?

If purchased through a retailer, contact that retailer first. They will assist with the warranty process. For direct purchases, contact BMC customer support.
